New I-20 and DS-2019 Design

The Student and Exchange Visitor Program (SEVP) has released a redesigned Form I-20 and Form DS-2019 effective June 26, 2015.  All I-20s and DS-2019s printed after June 26, 2015 will have the new design. Previously issued I-20s and DS-2019s in the old format will still be valid until June 30, 2016. All F-1/ F-2 and J-1/J-2 status holders will be required to have a redesigned Form I-20 or DS-2019 by July 1, 2016.

  • Your travel, visa renewals or visa applications will not be affected by the new changes on the Form I-20 and DS-2019. You can still use your old I-20 or DS-2019 if you are returning to the U.S. or traveling outside the U.S.

  • Students and scholars applying for Social Security Numbers and Drivers Licenses must use the new I-20 or DS-2019.
