For nearly 100 years, we have helped mold exceptional musical artists for the contemporary world. Our small class sizes (averaging 8-11 per music class) and caring faculty mean you are heard. And our comprehensive musical education, including twelve wide-ranging undergraduate programs and specific-focus graduate programs led by artist/teachers, provides enlightenment and advancement for serious musicians.

Knowing that choosing a school that is a good fit requires both your head and your heart, we want you to look more closely at our Webster Groves campus. But you won't really know how you feel about the school until you visit. A visit lets you experience the campus community firsthand, and evaluate your personal interaction with our faculty members and students. We invite you to visit the Department of Music to take a campus tour, meet with ensemble directors and faculty members, sit in on a class or rehearsal, or attend any performances held during your visit. Contact the Campus Visit Office at 314.246.7566 or by email. Be certain to provide us enough detail to tailor a visit just for you.

Every Department of Music applicant at all levels must audition on a major performing instrument or voice. Composition and Songwriting applicants must submit scores in addition to a performance audition. Any student who transferred from Webster, and now wishes to return, must also re-audition.

The National Association of Schools of Music (our accrediting body) offers detailed answers to many questions.  Their NASM site is worth checking out too.
