Room Schedules

Practicing During the COVID-19 Pandemic
The practice rooms in the basement of the Thompson House are available to students enrolled in one or more MUSC courses during the FA20 semester. For as long as daily health screenings are required by the university, practice rooms are available only after the student has reserved a one-hour time slot to practice. After each hour-long practice session, the room will be left vacant for thirty minutes.

Reserving a Practice Room
QR codePractice rooms are reserved online for each practice session using an online form. To access the form, go to, or scan the QR code, which has been posted throughout the Thompson House.

After you place your request, a Music Office staff member will approve or deny your request depending on the availability of Practice rooms. You will receive a confirmation email that confirms your practice time and includes the room to which you have been assigned for practice. You must only use the practice room listed in the confirmation email for the time that you have been scheduled for.

Practice Room Calendar
Students can view an Outlook calendar that lists all existing practice room assignments. To access it, go to The calendar is also linked in the confirmation email for all practice room requests. If your request for practice time was denied, please view the calendar to find a time when a practice room is available. Remember that we must leave each practice room vacant for thirty minutes after use.

To see busy and free time in rooms available to reserve, simply click on the room name in the column on the left. Once the window opens, click WEEK at the top right to see the full weekly view.

Using Your Assigned Practice Room
All students must wear a mask until they are in their practice room, alone, with the door closed. If possible, please consider wearing your mask while you practice. At no time may more than one student be in the same practice room together. When you get to your assigned room, there will be disinfecting wipes inside the room. Please disinfect the keys of the piano before AND after you practice. When you are finished, throw the wipes away in one of the trash cans in the hallway outside of your practice room. Wash your hands before and after using a practice room.

Large room reservations

When you identify a free time in a room, and you wish to make a reservation, send an email to the Department of Music office.  Include all the information we will need: reservation start time, event start time, ending time, name/purpose of event, and your name and contact phone number.  Your reservation is not complete until you receive a note from the office confirming the event, and you see the time no longer listed as free on this calendar.
