Councils and Committees

President Schuster in Centennial Committee MeetingThe President’s Office works with a number of faculty and administrative/student committees to carry out the academic and administrative mission of the university.

Assessment Committee

The University Assessment Committee provides a forum to share successful practices; fosters cross-disciplinary dialogue on assessment, curricula, and pedagogy; discusses assessment software options; and recommends a framework for reporting on assessment results.

Catalog Committee

The purpose of the Catalog Committee is to ensure that the Webster University catalogs present the academic programs, policies, and other requirements and information accurately timely, and completely and in a user-friendly format.

Curriculum Committee

The Curriculum Committee oversees the academic integrity of undergraduate curriculum of the University. The Curriculum Committee reports to the Faculty Senate and apprises the administration of its recommendations and decisions.

Faculty Senate

The Faculty Senate is a sixteen-member body that represents faculty opinion to non-faculty constituents at the university and makes decisions regarding issues important to faculty. It holds regular open meetings and maintains communication with established faculty committees. It oversees annual committee elections and appoints faculty members to vacated committee seats or to ad hoc committees as needed.

Graduate Council

The Graduate Council is a body of full-time faculty members, which considers all Graduate level appeals for reinstatement and readmission. The Council also reviews and approves academic policies related to graduate programs, approves new courses, new programs and other curriculum changes and reviews, evaluates and makes recommendations concerning academic standards.

Global Citizenship Program Committee

This Committee provides leadership for the undergraduate Global Keystone Seminars, including quality and continuous improvement (assessment), service and experiential learning opportunities, and other components of the program, working collaboratively with the Director of the Global Citizenship Program, the Global Citizenship Program Committee, Academic Deans and Department Chairs, international and extended campus faculty and administrators, Academic Advising, Student Affairs and Academic Affairs.

Institutional Review Board

The Institutional Review Board (IRB) reviews research project proposals that will involve human subjects research. The purposes of IRB review are 1) to protect research subjects; 2) to protect the University, its faculty, staff and students who conduct research; and 3) to ensure compliance with federal regulations regarding human subjects research.

President's Council

The President's Council is comprised of the Vice President & Chief Financial Officer, the Vice President of Enrollment Management & Student Affairs, the Vice President and Chief Information Officer, the Deans of the five schools and colleges, the Dean of the library, the Vice Provost.

The Council participates in strategic and long-range planning; proposes, reviews and endorses policy and procedures; and advises on matters relating to: academics, academic support services, research and other scholarly and artistic activity, enrollment services, space allocation, administration of extended and international campuses and distance learning, assessment, and fiscal planning.

Sustainability Coalition

The Coalition is an open, voluntary, stakeholder forum that anyone may join and contribute to the conversation and action for a sustainable campus and community. Open discussions about initiatives and projects brought forward are welcomed and encouraged.

University Planning and Budget Committee

This Committee advises on the development of the annual operating and capital budgets and general budget policy issues; makes recommendations on fiscal opportunities and challenges; reviews proposed allocations and action plans; and helps communicate university budget information to the university committee.
